Samsung has” no plans” to release a subpar Galaxy Z Fold phone, but it should undoubtedly do so.

I have some awful announcement for you if, like me, you were hoping for an economical substitute for Samsung’s cheap folding telephones. According to Samsung itself, there’s no plans to launch a cheaper portable for the time being.

Samsung just released a new folding, a new Cosmos Z Fold 6 Special Edition with some promotional upgrades, including bigger displays, a 200mp key wide stanza, and a thinner and lighter body than the base Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. These improvements come at value, nevertheless, with the unit costing 2, 789, 600 won ( or about$ 2, 000/ £1, 550 / Au$ 3, 000 ).

Additionally, South Korea is the only country with this, with no confirmation of the rumored China build.

Samsung appears to have no plans to create a less expensive foldable, according to an official statement to Korean outlet Sisa Journal ( translated for Korean ).” As of right now, we have no plans to release a separate product with a lower price.

It doesn’t really get any clearer than that.

The wrong move?

There’s still a slim chance that Samsung will develop a Galaxy Z Fold Fe to compete with other inexpensive Fan Edition Samsung devices, but the statement is a little non-committal. Whatever kind of non-promise Samsung might make if it has nothing to say at the moment ( and teasing a cheap phone just before it launches a wildly pricey one is probably not a wise business decision ).

And I sincerely hope it has something less pricey up its sleeve because the last thing foldables need is more expensive.

Yes the technology is awesome, I had an absolute blast using the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 when it launched, but it’s tough to justify$ 1, 899.99/ £1, 799 / Au$ 2, 749 for a smartphone when a$ 799 / £799 / Au$ 1, 399 Galaxy S24 does a lot of the same stuff. When you consider that the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s design isn’t as durable, making it more difficult to take when you need to replace it with a beach trip.

At, say$ 1, 200-ish – £1, 200 / Au$ 1, 800 – or around two-thirds the price a Galaxy Fold would be a heck of a lot more appealing, even if that does mean Samsung has to make some sacrifices on the hardware side of things.

If Samsung decides to change their mind, we’ll have to wait and see, but for the moment, it seems as though the best we can do is start splurging on some incredible deals during Black Friday this year.
